Synergies with other projects can have a great impact on the future developments of a project. The goal of collaboration with the projects that share common research interests and conduct research in similar topics is to collaborate in research, validate project’s concept, findings and advantages, gather ideas, transfer knowledge and share experiences with each other. In terms of dissemination, the interaction with other projects could have a combined effect that would be greater impact than the sum of their individual effects. Collaboration activities can provide long-term promotional and visibility solutions that are mutually beneficial to all parties involved due to their combined effect.
FRONTIER has built strong synergies with research and innovation projects in the same area with the aim to use and extend knowledge from the projects, disseminate results and create greater awareness of the project.
4FRONT Cluster
The 4FRONT Cluster is composed of four European Horizon 2020 projects enabling network and traffic management for future mobility: FRONTIER, TANGENT, DIT4TRAM and ORCHESTRA.
Common goals of the cluster:
- Develop tools for dynamic transport demand management & supply optimisation
- Create innovative architecture and concepts of operations for an efficient, resilient and adaptable multi-modal network and traffic management systems
- Use innovative data collection and fusion techniques, leveraging on existing standards and methods for data exchange
- Develop multi-actor organisational and business models with shared responsibilities between different traffic management stakeholders
- Assess the impact of new technologies, including smart infrastructure and connected and automated vehicles
- Design and calibrate arbitration models for complex network and traffic management scenarios and multi-actor settings, including disaster management
The 4FRONT cluster coordinates activities together, including panel discussions, webinars, workshops (Live webinar: Developing traffic and network management of the future (14/06/2022), 4FRONT Data sharing online workshop (1/06/2023)), joint sessions and stands in the major Transport and Mobility events (i.e. ITS European Congress 2023, TRA Lisbon 2022, Connecting Europe Days 2022, Urban Mobility Days 2024).

AutoMATE Cluster
The AutoMATE Cluster is formed based on commonalities of the work of the projects comprising the cluster in the field of Automated and Integrated Transport. The Cluster aims to revolutionise urban mobility by making transport smarter, greener and more integrated thanks to connected and automated vehicles (CAVs). AutoMate is a collaboration of six following Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe automated mobility projects: FRONTIER, SHOW, SPROUT, PASCAL, HARMONY and ULTIMO (earlier: AVENUE).
In terms of dissemination and communication, the projects are organising activities together including joint sessions in major Transport events (i.e. TRA Lisbon 2022) and participation in projects’ own events (i.e. HARMONY final conference). Supported by the European Commission’s Horizon Results Booster programme, the cluster has issued common communication material.
