Exciting days at FRONTIER as we reached an important milestone of successfully conducting the first phase of the Athens pilot. On 19th June 2023, the project pilot team provided hands-on experience to the Athens operators, exploring different use cases using the FRONTIER Platform. The highly interactive discussions were insightful, receiving valuable feedback on the developments thus far.

On 20th June, a very fruitful Athens Pilot online workshop with end users took place. The FRONTIER project, its technologies and pilots were presented to the participants. Then the discussion focused on the application developed by FRONTIER (Citynaut App) to provide travel recommendations and assist with journey planning, especially in the case of major event disruptions on a multimodal corridor with significant spill-over effects on other modes. Valuable feedback received from the workshop participants will contribute to refining the final functionalities that will be offered to the end-users of the application.

The Athens pilot aims to address three Use Cases of corridor event disruptions by providing mitigation measures based on the needs and objectives of the involved stakeholders (Operators and Commuters), aiming to restore network performance. The selected corridor for the pilot includes a section of the Attiki Odos motorway, from the Metamorphosis I/C to the Athens International Airport I/C, as this is an ideal network part served by car, buses and rail involving different stakeholders.

The FRONTIER app aims to help users make informed decisions about their travel needs in case of traffic disruptions, through journey-planning recommendations.

We're now heading towards the completion of the project, with a strong focus on delivering innovative solutions for advanced corridor & network management systems placing cross-stakeholder collaboration at the heart of the development and operational efforts.
